LeBron James was reported to push Cavaliers management for trading Kevin Love to New York to get Carmelo Anthony to Cleveland. However, he denied the report.
The news was first reported by New York Daily News on Tuesday, Feb. 7. According to the source from NBA, James is the one who pushed the Cavaliers front office to acquire Anthony from New York.
It is reported that James wanted to have Anthony in Cleveland, even with the cost of sending Love away to the Knicks. Cavaliers management rejected the idea which would cost them to lose their main power forward.
James denied the report which was written after .Cavaliers defeated Knicks on Saturday. He said that he never asked such trade according to report by Sports Illustrated.
"It's trash,” James said regarding the report from New York Daily News. “The guy who wrote it is trash too for writing that, especially during the game like that.”
Regardless of James denial of the report, he has involved with team management in many occasions. He was reported to be the one who pushed the trade of point guard Andrew Wiggins to Minnesota Timberwolves for Love. Wiggins was the Cavaliers number one draft pick in 2013,
James who wants to leave behind a legacy as one of the greatest NBA players choose to use shortcuts. He takes a different path than other great players such as Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
Those players stayed loyal in their team and helped to develop their team. They made their team mate to play better basketball and chased the championship together. In James case, he chose to leave his team to create a new pact in his pursuit of NBA championship. Afterward, he got back to the old team and pushes his way around.
