It looks like Nam Joo Hyuk, Shin Se Kyung, and f(x)'s Krystal will be working together for an upcoming tvN drama. It is said that the network has started writing its adaptation of "Bride of the Water God."
Back in June 2016, the cable network announced that the writer of their hit office drama "Incomplete Life" Jung Yoon Jung had started writing tvN's modern-day adaptation of the Korean fantasy manhwa "Bride of the Water God." It is said that pre-production of the drama including its casting is already ongoing.
Previous reports claimed that Nam and Moon Chae Won were in talks for the drama, and just recently Krystal, Shin, and Gong Myung were also said to be considering the roles, Soompi cited. It is said that Shin is considering the lead female role as So Ah while Nam is for the lead role of Ha Baek.
In response, Shin's label Namoo Actors and Krystal's label SM Entertainment expressed, "We did receive an offer. Nothing is yet confirmed but we're positively looking into it," Allkpop reported.
While Gong's label, Fantagio, responded that they are still reviewing the process and cannot give a specific comment at this point. It is said that the 22-year old actor has been offered the role of Bi Ryeom.
The upcoming tvN drama will be a spinoff version of the romantic comedy cartoon. Script for the drama will be written by the script writer of the webtoon series "Misaeng" alongside producer Kim Byung Soo who is behind the dramas "Nine: Nine Times Travel" and "Queen in Hyun's Man."
"Bride of the Water God" is a comics targeted towards girls by Yun Mi Kyung. In 2006, its first volume was released by Seoul Munhwasa, however, an English version was later released by Dark Horse Comics and is currently ongoing.
