This current NBA season had a numerous player rotation via trade and waivers. As of today, the Los Angeles Lakers are currently discussing a buyout to Jose Calderon and the veteran point guard is rumored to sign with the Warriors after the negotiation is completed.
According to Slam Online, Jose Calderon is expected to be bought out by the Lakers. During the same night, after the Warriors' playoff-clinching game, the number 1 team released Briante Weber as the team is rumored to sign Calderon.
It has been said that the Warriors are on the top of the list to sign Calderon as he is expected to be released as early as Wednesday. Coach Steve Kerr confirmed that their team will not re-sign Weber after his second 10-day contract as the team is giving a spot for the veteran Jose Calderon.
Jose Calderon is a veteran and was known to be a good backup player. He can provide playmaking assistance to any team, especially to a contender like the Golden State Warriors. Calderon is currently averaging 3.3 points, 2.1 assists and 1.8 rebounds per contest over 24 games.
With the Lakers' rebuilding and buying process, Calderon is obviously not a part of their future plans. The Lakers are currently trying to adapt a young core lineup in the next season as they are also expecting their future stars D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Brandon Ingram to step up next year as per the Silver Screen Roll reported.
Meanwhile, the Warriors are now prepping as they are about to enter the 2017 NBA Playoffs. Several fans and basketball analysts are expecting another rematch against the defending NBA Champion, Cleveland Cavaliers.
If the Calderon will be added to the Warriors' roster, they would have a deep-bench line up as he guy can compete on both ends of the court. With Calderon's offensive skills, he is not only known to be a pass-first player, but also a prominent outside shooter. Opposing teams would need to close the gap on Warriors' offense in most of the cases since the powerhouse team has a lot of 3-point bombers.
