Viewers of ongoing drama "Defendant" have been following Ji Sung's unfortunate journey since January. In fact, many of us are wondering if his character will ever find justice in the end.
Despite its twist-filled plot, writers of the ongoing drama have spared the viewers a light moment to celebrate Ji Sung's birthday in the series. In "Defendant" episode 11, the actor's character was surprised by his cellmates for his birthday.
Apparently, the SBS drama revealed the particular scene was recorded two weeks ago. However, they intended to air it on Ji Sung's birthday last Feb. 27 as a way to thank him for his dedication.
"Most of the actors didn't realize they were filming a scene that was meant to celebrate Ji Sung's actual birthday," the source as per Soompi.
Apart from the said scene, the whole production of "Defendant" celebrated Ji Sung's birthday on the set. "Since he's so busy with his shooting schedule and doesn't have a lot of time for himself, Ji Sung was very touched by their actions," the source added.
The 40-year-old actor has been receiving praises for his role in "Defendant." A staff member previously said Ji Sung is someone who pushes himself to the limit in terms of acting.
Thus, it seems like his hardwork is paying off as the SBS drama continues to dominate the Monday-Tuesday timeslot against "Rebel: Thief Who Stole The People" and "Ms. Perfect."
Not only that, "Defendant" has been extended for two more episodes to meet the viewers' demand as per Allkpop. The brains behind the legal series stated the additional episodes will give them ample of time to effectively deliver the rest of the story.
The announcement has made the viewers even more excited for the upcoming episodes. Some of them said the extension was a good choice, considering that the drama has a lot to offer.
Meanwhile, Ji Sung's character and his two cellmates managed to escape the prison in episode 12. Follow their journey outside the cell in "Defendant" every Monday and Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. on SBS.
