NBA Trade Rumors: Following Durant's injury, Warriors signs Matt Barnes

Golden State Warriors signed Matt Barnes until the end of the season. He will fill-in the void left by Kevin Durant following his knee injury. Barnes was so excited to rejoin his old team.

Barnes was so excited to be back in the Bay Area with the Warriors where he played for two seasons. He took to social media regarding his return to the Warriors, FOX Sports reported. Barnes shared his old picture with Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson, wearing Golden State Warriors jersey.

The 36-year-old veteran is the member of the “We Believe” team of Golden State Warriors in 2006-07 season. The team was coached by Don Nelson and made a surprising and historic performance in the playoffs by defeating the defending champion Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs. Warriors became the first 8th seed team that defeated the 1st team in the playoffs.

The 2006-07 Golden State Warriors team has become the starting point of the successful Warriors as of today. Barnes said that he had felt that he was part of something big with Golden State Warriors in 2007, ESPN reported. Therefore, returning to the Warriors is something that is makes him so happy.

Golden State Warriors will have to release its newly acquired point guard, Jose Calderon to make space for Barnes. A few days earlier, the Warriors waived Briante Weber to clear the space for Calderon.

Barnes began his journey in the NBA when Memphis Grizzlies drafter him in 2002. However, he had to play in the D-League for two seasons before being recognized as the talented wing player. He had been playing for the Clippers, Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic and Sacramento Kings in his 15 years of career in he NBA.
