Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra and his rumored girlfriend Alia Bhatt are set to get back together for the third installment of the 'Aashiqui' franchise. The couple has already done two films together; 'Student of the Year' and 'Kapoor and Sons.' The alleged lovebirds made their acting debut together in Karan Johar's 2012 hit romance drama 'Student of the Year.'
Confirming the news, producer Mukesh Bhatt said that Sidharth and Alia are perfect for the roles. "Yes, it is true. We have signed Sidharth and Alia for the film. They completely fit the role. When we make films we look for the perfect casting. They both fit the bill," Bhatt told Indian news agency Press Trust of India. "We are currently in the process of figuring out the dates and other detail. It will be decided soon on when it goes on floors."
Bhatt also revealed that 'Ashiqui 2' director Mohit Suri will direct the new installment of the movie. The second installment of 'Aashiqui,' which featured Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles, was released in 2013.
Earlier it was reported that Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor were being considered for lead roles in the movie. However, both have decided to opt out of the movie. Sidharth Malhotra hopes people will like him and Alia in the movie. "It's a great space and I hope people like us. It's a great franchise to be a part of," the 31-year-old actor said.
The 'Ek Villain' actor is currently busy shooting an untitled action movie opposite Sri Lankan beauty queen turned Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez. Alia Bhatt, on the other hand, is busy with promotions of her upcoming movie 'Udta Punjab.' The 23-year-old 'Highway' actress can be seen next in Shahrukh Khan's 'Raees.'
