JYJ member Park Yoochun was dragged in a massive scandal last year after several parties accused the singer of rape. All four charges of sexual assault filed against the Yoochun have been dismissed by the court, and the subsequent false accusation & blackmail cases filed by the idol's camp against his accusers are drawing to a close.
After a rather tumultuous 2016, Park Yoochun is finally relieved of the burden that followed him when the rape allegations came out. According to Koreaboo, Park Yoochun was accused of raping a woman in June 2016. After the initial filing, several other women stepped out and claimed they were also victimized by the celebrity.
On March 16, 2017, the singer-actor's agency, C-JeS Entertainment, announced that the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office has been adjudged Park Yoochun "not guilty" of all four rape accusations.
He was also cleared of allegations involving him in a prostitution ring, for lack of any incontrovertible evidence.
Meanwhile, allkpop reports that the perpetrator behind the first rape filing has been charged with blackmail and has been sentenced by the Seoul District Central court to imprisonment of approximately two years. The accuser's boyfriend was also sentenced to one-and-a-half years in jail. The said woman claimed that Park Yoochun took her into the bathroom of an adult establishment where she was allegedly raped.
The accuser who claimed Park Yoochun was soliciting prostitution has been charged with false accusation.
With Park Yoochun's cases now closed and the singer-actor freed of all charges against him, C-JeS Entertainment stated that Park Yoochun is apologizing for not being a "moral and responsible public figure" and for stirring such as social controversy.
The agency, in behalf of Park Yoochun, also thanked fans the continuously supporting the JYJ member through this ordeal. It is also said that Park Yoochun will take the time to reflect on his life and repent for his actions.
