SM Entertainment has finally spoken up to clarify reports regarding Krystal's potential solo debut in May. On Wednesday, the agency firmly denied the f(x) member will release her first album soon.
The agency, however, added that Krystal is gearing up for her role in "Bride of the Water God," a fantasy drama that stars Nam Joo Hyuk, Shin Se Kyung, and Gong Myung.
"Krystal is currently preparing for her appearance in tvN drama "Bride of the Water God." The reports about her solo album are not true," SM Entertainment said as per Allkpop.
The f(x) member is set to play the role Hera (Mura in manwha) in the upcoming series. Her character is described as the witch of Chung Yo Mountains who is in love with Haebak the water god played by Nam Joo Hyuk.
Soompi reported the cast of "Bride of the Water God" had their table reading last March 16, which was followed by the first day of filming on March 22. Aside from its star-studded lineup, the upcoming drama is also spearheaded by some of the finest people in the filming industry.
The tvN drama is written by Jung Yoon Jung who wrote "Incomplete Life" and will be produced by Kim Byung Soo from "Nine: 9 Times Time Travel." Reports claimed "Bride of the Water God" is expected to start airing in the second half of 2017.
The Nam Joo Hyuk-starrer is a spin-off of a Korean manwha of the same title. The 2006 sunjung manwha centers on the life of Soah, a village girl who will be sacrificed to appease the water god to end the drought.
For the TV adaptation of "Bride of the Water God," Soah will be played by Shin Se Kyung, a neuropsychiatrist who is facing a financial crisis.
Watch out for the release of the upcoming fantasy drama only on tvN!
