Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will premiere in less than six months, but Ip Man actor Donnie Yen has revealed that he still has some work to do for the standalone Star Wars anthology film.
The Hong Kong actor and martial artist recently attended an event for a tea brand along with his wife, Cissy Wang. There, he was asked whether he has plans on spending the upcoming Father's day with his kids.
"I can't. My wife and I will be flying to Japan in two days for a project. After that, I'll be flying all over the place for some more work. I'm going to have to go back to London soon too, to do some additional photography for Rogue One," he replied.
Yen portrays Chirrut, a religious warrior in Jyn Erso's (Felicity Jones) band of rebel rogues. When asked why he took the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story role, according to JayneStars, the 52-year old frankly said that it had nothing to do with the money.
"I picked up those jobs because they were a rare opportunity," he said. "I did Rogue One because my kids are huge fans of Star Wars."
Aside from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Yen is also busy with Vin Diesel's upcoming action film, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. Yen will play the role of Xiang, the deadly alpha warrior, whom government operative Xander Cage, portrayed by Diesel, will battle with.
Aside from Diesel and Yen, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose, and Chinese-Canadian actor Kris Wu. It will premiere in January 2017.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, on the other hand, also features Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, as well as Chinese actor Jiang Wen. It is slated for release on Dec. 16, 2016.
