Ed Sheeran stirred up major "Game of Thrones" Season 7 buzz when it was announced that he will be making a cameo appearance on the show. His casting sparked speculations on what character he will play and what he will do on the show. After keeping fans in the dark, Sheeran himself finally gave a hint about his "Game of Thrones" Season 7 cameo.
The "Shape of Your" singer revealed that appearing on "Game of Thrones" has been a longtime dream of his. It's been something he's wanted to do in the last five years. The question now is: What is Ed Sheeran's role in "Game of Thrones" Season 7.
Singers and bands who made cameo appearances in previous seasons of the Emmy-winning show took up various roles. According to Vanity Fair, the members of metal band Mastodon were unrecognizable as Wildlings in the Season 5 episode "Hardhome." Iceland-based band Sigur Ros attended King Joffrey's wedding where the band played "The Rains of Castamere." Coldplay drummer Will Champion was also in another wedding-the Red Wedding, that is-where he played an ominous version of the same song.
The particular detail of Sheeran's role, however, remains a heavily guarded secret, but the singer teased that he doesn't die in the show, addressing concerns about his character's fate given the brutal nature of the show.
Sheeran, however, has one wish as to his character. "I'd probably prefer to have sex than die in the show," Sheeran told The Daily Star. "I'm sure a lot of people are into [boning and then dying], but I'm not."
His appearance will be brief, so fans better keep their eyes peeled for when he pops up on screen. He revealed that he will be on the show for only five minutes.
