Koren fans of Super Junior want Kangin, who is under investigation for causing a car accident while driving under the influence of alcohol, to leave the group. However, international fans of Super Junior seem to want him to remain with the group.

Last month, Kangin crashed his car into a streetlight near a convenience store in Seoul and left the crash scene. The next morning, he appeared before the police to answer questions related to the incident. Police found 0.05 percent alcohol concentration in Kangin's blood, according to reports.

Super Junior's management agency SM Entertainment confirmed reports that it is Kangin who was involved in the hit-and-run accident. The agency also canceled all his scheduled appearances.

Soon after the news about the accident surfaced, South Korea-based Super Junior fans started a petition, requesting that Kangin exit from the popular group. According to the fans, this is not the first time that Kangin has landed in trouble, and his continued presence would be unfair to the other members of the group.

According to Korea Boo, some fans believe he is damaging Super Junior's reputation with his scandals.

In response, some international fans of Super Junior have started a counter-petition, requesting that Kangin does not get booted from Super Junior. These fans also want to see Kangin punished, but according to the law.  They are in favor of his driving license getting revoked, suspension of his activities, and he getting a hefty fine. But they do not want to see him serving a jail term or be ejected from the group. This online petition has already crossed the original goal of 25,000 signatures.
