Despite the fans having waited for years already for the release of George R.R. Martin's upcoming book "Winds of Winter," they may just have to wait a little bit longer. The author is currently involved in other projects as of the moment, but assures fans that he is still currently working on the book.

It cannot be denied that George R.R. Martin's book series of "A Song of Ice and Fire" is currently one of the most followed books recently. This has been adapted into an HBO series to which caught the eyes of many, entitled "Game of Thrones." It has been six years since Martin released the book prior to the upcoming one, "Winds of Winter" and fans have already been edgy about it. They even came as far as calling Martin out on his blog, to which he graciously responded.

However, it may not be positive news after all. With all the projects that Martin is currently lined up to work on, release of "Winds of Winter" may take longer than anticipated as reported by The Verge. Martin recently launched the Stagecoach Foundation, which was set to bring in more film and television artists enthusiasts to his hometown. This is to encourage those who have the passion and the heart for the film-making industry to work harder on their skills, and give them a chance to make it to the big time. In line with this, Martin is also coordinating with some of the filmmakers completing projects in Hollywood.

As for the upcoming "Game of Thrones" season seven, there have been many speculations about its upcoming storyline referenced on martin's books on "A Song of Ice and Fire," according to a Reddit user. The series is set to return this year for its new season.

In addition to his recently-launched foundation program; Martin is also reportedly talking with HBO and collaborating another project together similar to the "Game of Thrones." Thus, release for the "Winds of Winter" may in fact take a lot more time to attain due to his busy schedule.
