KPop star D.O. of the boy group EXO will once again show off his acting skills in one of South Korea’s premier filmmakers Kang Hyung Chul’s upcoming film “Swing Kids”.
In a statement released by the artist’s management agency S.M. Entertainment, it was revealed that D.O. will be portraying the role of a North Korean soldier named Ro Ki Soo who fell in love with tap dancing in the midst of the Korean war. The label also added that their talent is greatly honored to be working with Kang, Soompi reports.
Kang is known for his films such as “Tazza: The Hidden Card”, “Scandal Makers” and “Sunny”, which were considered as the highest grossing Korean films of all time. He had also received prestigious recognitions such as the “Best Director Award” from the 29th Korean Association of Film Critics Awards, 48th Grand Bell Awards and 3rd KOFRA Film Awards for as well as “Best Screenplay” at the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards for his outstanding works in “Scandal Makers,”and “Sunny”.
D.O., on the other hand, has proved his acting skills in several acting projects including “Pure Love”, “My Annoying Brother”, “Room 7”, “It’s Okay That's Love” and “Hello Monster”. In 2009, he won the “Best Young Actor Award” and “Best New Actor” from 16th Seoul International Youth Film Festival and 3rd APAN Star Awards for his promising role in “It’s Okay That's Love”. Re.cently, he was given the “Most Popular Actor (Film)” 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards for his portrayal in “My Annoying Brother”
Meanwhile, D.O.’s group EXO has recently completed their “EXO PLANET #3 - The EXO'rDIUM - in North America” concert tour. Held in several states including New Jersey, Mexico City and Los Angeles from April 25 to April 28 respectively, the KPop group carried out their outstanding dancing and singing skills in front of their avid American fans as they perform their hit songs such as "Growl", "Overdose", "Monster", and "Lucky One in a jam-packed concert venues, All KPop reports.
