Could it be true that Korean stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo have already started filming for "Descendants of the Sun" season 2?

While there are rumors that shooting for the sequel of the hit series from KBS has already started,  there has been no official confirmation. It appears that fans would have to be satisfied for now with the release of the "DOTS" Director's Cut in DVD between July and December this year, Asia One revealed.

KBS network and the show's production team announced on Tuesday that the upcoming DVD will feature "deleted scenes, a music video and behind-the-scene footage," and, of course, the re-edited version of the 16th episode of the show.

Meanwhile, fans may have to wait for longer to see Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo in "Descendants of the Sun" season 2.

In April, KBS drama department head Jung Sung Ho disclosed that they are planning to release a "Descendants of the Sun" project in 2017. However, it was still unclear if it would be the season 2 or just a show that will be patterned after it, according to Soompi

Meanwhile, "Descendants of the Sun" stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo emerged as winners at the recently concluded 52nd Baeksang Art Awards.

The event was held in South Korea at Kyung Hee University's Grand Peace Hall on Friday. The actor and the actress won the Most Popular Male in TV and Most Popular Female in TV award, respectively.

The original version of "Descendants of the Sun" also took home the top award that night - the Grand Prize in the TV category.
