Ross Butler broke the hearts of "Riverdale" fans all over the world when he announced that he was no longer reprising his role as Reggie Mantle in Season 2. However, Butler now has a worthy replacement that will surely make fans swoon.
Charles Melton has been cast to play Reggie in "Riverdale" Season 2, TVLine reports. Butler supported Melton's casting, even taking to Twitter to thank "Riverdale" producers for choosing another Asian-American actor to play the role of Archie's rival. He has Korean roots
According to Models.com, Melton is half Korean and also has Caucasian and Cherokee roots. He was born in Alaska, and raised in Manhattan, Kansas.
He previously starred in popular TV shows
Like Butler, Melton is also a familiar face. Prior to joining "Riverdale," Melton appeared in FX's "American Horror Story: Hotel," where he portrayed a womanizer named Mr. Wu. He also had a minor role in "Glee."
He's a professional model
Aside from his acting gigs, Melton also models professionally. He made his first runway appearance at the 2012 New York Fashion Week, where he walked for Park & Ronen and VLOV. He was discovered at the Arts Showcase in Orlando, Florida.
He's very athletic
Much like his character Reggie, Melton is also into football. In an interview, he described himself as a "huge sports fanatic." He played two years of college football at Kansas State University. He later left college to pursue acting.
Now, Melton keeps himself fit by going to the gym and eating healthy. He's still into sports and plays basketball every now and then.
He loves Pokemon and "Glee"
Despite being exposed to luxurious brands and fashionable clothing, Melton admitted that one of his favorite pieces of clothing is his Pokemon pajamas. He's also a self-confessed Gleek.
