The production company behind the successful South Korean drama series "Descendants of the Sun" is planning to release a remake of the hit American show "Criminal Minds."

A  NEW rep announced on Wednesday that "The remake of CBS's 'Criminal Minds' will be a collaboration between NEW and Taewon Entertainment," Soompi disclosed.

"We are targeting an early 2017 premiere, and are discussing the selection of a broadcast station," the rep added.

"Criminal Minds" has been a hit among US television viewers after it premiered in September 2005. Recently, the final episode of the 11th season of the show was aired. However, it has been renewed for a 12th season.

Meanwhile, Asia Times reported that lead stars of the KBS war drama series, Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo, might have just hinted about the real status of their relationship.

Speculations arose anew after the "Descendants of the Sun" stars were seen "hand-in-hand" attending the recent Baeksang Awards Ceremony.

Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo, who are expected to reprise their roles in the sequel of "Descendants of the Sun," will be seen together again in China on June 17 when they attend a fan meeting.
