In a poll conducted in the first week of June, Japanese viewers got the chance to vote which shows they want to be taken off the air. Although many of the shows on the list are popular, some Japanese viewers think there is no improvement in the storylines and television networks just have to let them go.
Number one on the list was "Gyorestuno Dekiru Horitsu Sodanjo." The show is known for its bad English catchphrase ("Give Me a Truth").
"SMAP X SMAP" was voted to the number two spot. Fans were disturbed in January when the group behind the show announced that they were splitting up. After several days, the group announced that they were going to remain intact despite their differences. They apologized to their fans because of the issues that they brought up. Most of their fans let out a sigh of relief but a lot of them did not see the members the same anymore. Some of the viewers commented that the content of the show is not funny anymore.
Third on the spot is "Akko ni Omakase." The Japanese variety show is broadcasted every Sunday. One of the voters said that the content of the show is not interesting anymore. It maybe because the show is old and just does not appeal to the new generation of viewers. Some viewers said they did not like watching it due to the characters of the show.
The rest of the shows voted on the list include Tonneruzu no Mina-san no Okage Deshita (1997), Mecha-Mecha Iketeru (1996), Shikujiri Sensei Ore Mitai Ni Naruna (2014), Matsuko & Ariyoshi's Angry New Party (2011), Kohaku Uta Gassen (1951), Saturday Night Chubaw (1994), and Viking (2014).
