In the upcoming David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" movie, an Asian actress is portraying Katana, one of the mysterious and dangerous villains.
Karen Fukuhara, a Japanese-American, is best known for her role as Katana (or Tatsu Yamashiro), who is more of a hero than the rest of the members of the Suicide Squad. She was a member of Batman's team of young heroes named "The Outsiders." She uses a magical sword named as Soultaker that imprisons the souls of her enemies.
Katana is very loyal to Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis) and the military officer Rick Flag (played by Joel Kinnaman). She is a fierce warrior as well as a protector. Her husband's soul is in her sword and more interesting details are expected to be unveiled about Katana throughout the film.
Alongside Fukuhara, Will Smith will star as a master assassin for hire called Deadshot, who never misses. Margot Robbie will play the insane love interest of Joker named Harley Quinn. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will play one of Batman's main villains the grotesque Killer Croc. Jai Courtney will play the role of a good fighter known as Captain Boomerang. Jared Leto will be the Clown Prince of Crime Joker (the new version). Cara Delevingne will act as the troubled magic Enchantress. Jay Hernandez will appear as El Diablo, and Adam Beach as Slipknot.
There are speculations that Ben Affleck may make a cameo appearance and Scott Eastwood, Alex Meraz, Common, Ike Barinholtz, Raymond Olubowale, and Jim Parrack will appear in mystery roles.
Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru created the "Suicide Squad" team (or Task Force X) back in 1959.
"Suicide Squad" will be arriving in theaters on August 5.
