Rookie actress Janella Salvador and son of late rapper Francis M., Elmo Magalona, are trending on social media as they are set to be the Philippine industry's newest love team. The talk behind the two stars started after the trailer of their new primetime show "Born For You," which was filmed in Japan, was released in the Philippines. The title follows the theme song "Born for You" by David Pomeranz.
The story incorporates the Japanese' belief about the red string of fate. According to this belief, people who were destined for each other are connected by an invisible red string, and they will meet even if they live on the opposite sides of the world.
The story follows Sam Kazuko (played by Janella), an aspiring Filipina singer who grew up in Japan. She believed in the red string of fate but her soon to be partner Kevin (played by Elmo), the son of a known OPM icon, laughed at the idea. Through music, the two will be intertwined marking the start of their love story.
The cast and production crew of the new TV series were in Japan for three weeks to shoot. It was in Japan where the two stars were first introduced to each other. Could the Japanese legend be true?
Both Janella and Elmo share the same love for music. They expressed excitement when they knew that they were going to play and make music together. They also shared how they feel when they are being compared to other well know love teams such as "Jadine" (James Reid and Nadine Lustre) or "Kathniel" (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla). Both said that the comparisons are normal, and all they can do is work hard and live up to the expectations of fans.
"Born for You" will be aired in the Philippines on July 20.
