American-born Korean Actress Han Ye-seul finally took charge of a distressing situation after a social media user kept harasing her. She has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the netizen, to ultimately put a stop to the online harassment.
On June 22, Soompi reported that police reports from the Gangnam Police Precinct reveal that the 34-year old actress "has filed a lawsuit against a malicious netizen for spreading false rumors and defamation." The lawsuit was filed on June 17.
Speaking on behalf of Han Ye-seul, a representative from her agency, Key East Entertainment, said, "A netizen has spread false rumors and offended her through her Instagram account for about a year. The agency asked this netizen to stop countless times, but it did not get better."
"When these malicious posts crossed the line and started affecting other netizens and fans, we decided to take legal action," the spokesperson added.
According to Korea Joong Ang Daily, the user had been personally attacking Han online and spreading negative rumors about the actress.
Han Ye-seul is a big fan of Instagram as this is her platform of choice to reach out to her fans and communicate with them.
"We will continue taking legal actions against any more malicious commenters from now on," Han's representative warned.
Han Ye-seul was last seen in the drama series Madame Antoine on JTBC, which wrapped up in March.
The actress is yet to announce her next project.
