HBO has released a gallery of sneak peek images for the Season 6 finale of Game of Thrones. Titled "The Winds of Winter," the season ender is touted to surpass fans' expectations following last week's faceoff of Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton.
Aside from Cersei Lannister and Loras Tyrell's trials, the set of images feature other ominous stills including the return of Bran Stark, a major Davos-Melisandre showdown, Tywin and Daenarys having a candid convo, and a scene with Jamie and Walder Frey.
HBO announced that Game of Thrones would get a supersize finale, making "The Winds of Winter" the longest running episode in its history with a total of 69 minutes. The strategic move follows the penultimate episode's aftermath where fans finally saw how Jon Snow and Sansa Stark team up to take down their nemesis, Ramsay Bolton. The episode continues to be discussed by fans and critics worldwide.
Game of Thrones kicked off this season with the same amount of buzz surrounding its final episodes. The Season 6 premiere was highly-awaited by fans following the cliffhanger death of Jon Snow, a storyline which spurred debate over the hiatus.
When the premiere finally revealed Snow's fate, actor Kit Harrington released a statement, asking for an apology after convincing fans that his beloved character is dead. As it turns out, Melisandre helped with his resurrection.
This season also included Daenary's iconic scene after she burned the Dothraki leaders, Arya's rather boring storyline with the Waif, and Hodor's heartbreaking death which revealed his overall backstory from the episode "The Door."
Game of Thrones season 6 concludes on Sunday, June 26 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
