Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is in trouble over his recent remarks about rape and faces a Rs 100 million ( around $1.5 million) lawsuit from a gang-rape victim.
The victim has demanded 100 million rupees as compensation from Salman Khan over his controversial remark that he felt like a rape victim after the grueling shoots from his upcoming movie Sultan. The young woman, who was gang raped by 10 men in northern Indian state of Haryana, has also demanded a public apology from Khan.
The 50-year-old Bajrangi Bhaijan actor landed in trouble when he had compared himself with a rape victim after shooting for his upcoming movie.
"While shooting, during those six hours, there'd be so much of lifting and thrusting on the ground involved. That was tough for me because if I was lifting, I'd have to lift the same 120-kilo guy 10 times for 10 different angles," he said. "And likewise, get thrown that many times on the ground. This act is not repeated that many times in the real fights in the ring. When I used to walk out of the ring, after the shoot, I used to feel like a raped woman walking out."
India's national commission for women has also summoned the star. Commission's chief Lalitha Kumaramangalam said that her organization is taking the matter seriously. Khan has not apologized for his comment.
Salman Khan will be next seen in sports drama Sultan. The biopic on Haryana-based wrestler Sultan Ali Khan is slated to be released on Eid this year. The movie also features actress Anushka Sharma in the female lead opposite Khan. Check out the trailer of the movie here.
