Mark Ruffalo is confirmed to return as Bruce Banner, a.k.a The Hulk, in "Thor: Ragnarok." The inclusion of his character has been met with mixed opinions. Some say adding the Hulk will be a bad idea, but Ruffalo sheds light into how his characater will fit into the movie.
In Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Hulk was last seen in "Avengers: Age of Ultron." Ruffalo shared via Cinema Blend that his character always struggled with the monstrous being inside himself. Banner, in "The Incredible Hulk" film, was badly searching for a cure but failed, and eventually he was recruited by Black Window in "The Avengers" where he learned how to control the beast.
However, Banner decided to flee from the Avengers in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" when The Hulk realized that he was still a danger to his allies, after being influenced by Scarlet Witch's mind control. Ruffalo explained that the dual nature of his character would have the opportunity to meet in "Thor: Ragnarok," while giving Marvel Cinematic Universe the chance to try out the concept of having Banner's dual personalities clash, similar to that in the comics.
The role of The Hulk in the movie may still come as a big mystery to a lot of fans, as Ruffalo believes that the producers know what they were planning. Taika Waititi has already mentioned how he would incorporate the storyline of the "Planet Hulk" in "Thor: Ragnarok."
Meanwhile, "Thor: Ragnarok" has commenced filming and news via Epic Stream reveals Ruffalo playing around on set with the massive hands of The Hulk. He also took to twitter to share it with his fans.
