Chinese actors Hu Ge and Joseph Cheng, who is also known as Zheng Yuanchang, were surprise winners in the People's Choice award at the 2014 Seoul International Drama Awards.
Hu and Cheng won the prestigious award, alongside South Korea's top actor Kim Soo Hyun , for their roles in "Love Actually" and "Life Revelation". Kim, meanwhile, received the award for his role in the hit drama "My Love from the Stars.
During his acceptance speech at the Haeorum Theater in Korea, Joseph Cheng sai he was honoured and pleased to receive the award in Korea .
"I am very grateful that many Korean fans still remember me," Cheng said, adding that he will make sure that his next drama will be much better than his latest, "Love Actually".
For his part, Hu Ge thanked the playwright of "Life Revelations" for creating a character that offered him the chance to showcase his skills as a more mature actor.
During the ceremony in South Korean, the hit drama "My Love from the Stars" bagged three awards to include Outstanding Korean Actor Award for Kim Soo Hyun, Outstanding Korean Drama OST Award and Excellent Korean Drama.
While Chinese and Korean actors and actresses romped off with several awards, it was French drama "Kabout Kitchen Season 2" that won the grand prize.
The French drama has been hailed as original, creative and popular by this year's jury. It was the first time for France to receive the grand prized in the Seoul International Drama Awards, which marked its ninth year this year.
The Seoul International Drama Awards aims to build a strong infrastructure for cultural exchange and development of the TV drama industry not just in Korea but around the world.
This year, 209 dramas from 50 countries participated in the competition.
Organized by Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee and Korean Broadcasters Association, Seoul International Drama Awards is striving to achieve the following goals: continuous development of the Korean Wave, promotion of healthy participation in festivals and vitalization of tourism in Seoul.
