Actors Kai Ko and Darren Wang put their friendship on the line after the latter sought to end his contract with Star Ritz agency. Ko was not pleased about this and thought that Wang was not showing gratitude at all.
The actors shared the same agency under the management of Angie Chai.The agency put Wang in the limelight and Ko even helped promote some of Wang's movies to show his support for his friend's success. The film "Our Times" gave Wang an instant fame.
As a good friend and a senior to Wang, Ko is eager to end the friendship that they had shared for about ten years just in case Wang proceeds with his plan of separating from the agency.
Two speculated stories were believed to be the reasons why Wang was cutting his connection with his current agency.
The first reason was the issue with his agency manager Angie Chai as stated at Yahoo News. Chai was recently issued exit restrictions by China's Ministry of Justice due to suspected criminal involvement. Many thought that because of this, Wang did not want to be connected with Chai anymore since his reputation and career goal of entering the mainland China would be affected.
The second story was related to his father's career plan for him according to Dramasian. Rumors say that Wang's father, Wang Tai-ching, signed him in his own production studio and that his son will star on the upcoming film entitled "Jiangshan" which was planned to be directed by Ang lee. The upcoming 1.9 billion Taiwanese dollar movie might involve one of these actresses: Brigitte Lin, Rene Liu or Joan Chen.
Whichever might be the true reason Wang is terminating his three-year contract with his agency, netizens hope that he can save his and Ko's friendship.
