"You're the Worst" Season 3 trailer that shows Gretchen (Aya Cash) in therapy and the rest of the cast still up to the same debauchery.
Struggling writer Jimmy (Chris Gere) and music publicist Gretchen are back to their passive-aggressive habits, only this time, things seem to be moving forward albeit, slightly but in an important manner, for the characters. Season 2 ended with a huge step for both characters who are finally able to say the dreaded, "I love you."
So what happens next? After bouts with clinical depression, Gretchen is now in therapy and true to the character, she loathes it. Speaking about her character, Cash said, "Eventually a person has to start taking responsibility for their own life" - something that doesn't sit well with Gretchen," Indie Wire reported.
Geere on the otherhand said that the commitment-phobic couple will still do the things that endeared them to the audience in the first place.
"They would never do anything by the book. They take the hard route the whole time, and I think that's why people can relate to them. It's never as easy as romantic comedies have brain-washed us into believing they are."
Showrunner Stephen Falk said that the third season will pick up right immediately from the events of Season 2. The two will still have a lot to discover about each other, Entertainment Weekly reported.
The quartet is complete with Edgar (Desmin Borges) and Lindsay (Kether Donohue) finding themselves in the familiar but and at the same time, different positions. Several episodes of the new season will address Edgar's PTSD and Lindsay's decision to get back with her estranged husband Paul (Allan McLeod).
"You're the Worst" Season 3 will have "Orange is The New Black" actress Samira Wiley will play Gretchen's therapist. Ben Folds will also guest star as a twisted version of himself.
"You're the Worst" Season 3 will air on Aug. 31, 2016 on FXX.
