Netflix's science-fiction drama "Sense8" is expected to return with Season 2 in a few months, but fans are wondering if it would be renewed for a third season.
According the Yibada, there are rumors that "Sense8" will not be picked up for another run. This surfaced after it was revealed that Lilly Wachowski, one of the show's creators, took some time off from writing and directing during the production of its sophomore season. She nonetheless reportedly continued to be active as a co-creator.
Lana Wachowski, Lilly's sister and co-creator, now works on the series without her. It is the first time in their careers that the siblings are not working together on a project.
"Lana is absolutely a superwoman," actress Jamie Clayton told Buzzfeed in May. "The way she channels her energy and her creativity ... it keeps me in absolute awe whenever I'm in her presence. She's an absolute force."
Clayton stars in the series as Nomi Marks, a hacktivist and blogger. With her are Tuppence Middleton as Riley Blue, Brian Smith as Will Gorski, Doona Bae as Sun Bak, Max Riemelt as Wolfgan Bogdanow, Tina Desai as Kala Dandekar, and Miguel Angel Silvestre as Lito Rodriguez.
Aml Ameen played the character Capheus Onyango but, in April, during filming of Season 2, he was replaced by Toby Onwumere. According to Deadline, this was due to a disagreement he had with Lana W., and it was speculated that the cause was creative differences.
Ameen's sudden exit reportedly caused mixed reactions from fans and is another reason why some think that the series will no longer have a third season.
Still, fans of the series can look forward to "Sense8" Season 2, which is believed to become available on Netflix starting this December. The sensates are expected to work together to defeat the Whispers.
