"The Maze Runner: The Death Cure," starring Dylan O'Brien has been set to resume its production in February next year.
The filming process of the scifi pic has been shut down indefinitely last April, after O'Brien was physically injured on the set. FOX released a statement saying that the actor's injuries turned out to be more serious than what was first reported in March. The actor, whose also known for his work on "Teen Wolf," have fallen off a train-like set while shooting and fractured his cheekbone and orbital socket.
According to Deadline, FOX has first set the production for "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" to restart on May 9. But the network postponed, while also bumping the release date to give O'Brien sufficient time to recover. The pic has been then slated to hit theatres on January 12, 2018 (previously February 17,2017).
The cast and production crew of "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" separated for a while after FOX announced the shut down. At present, new set of schedules have been worked out to continue filming in early 2017. But other portions of the film will be shot in a new location.
O'Brien, meanwhile, is also set to appear on the upcoming action thriller, "American Assassin." According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will play the role of Mitch Rapp, an Arab linguistics student who joins the CIA as an assassin after his girlfriend died in a terrorist attack. Taylor Kitsch and Michael Keaton also star.
Directed by Wes Ball, "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" also stars Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sngster, Rosa Salazar and Ki Hong Lee.
