"Grimm" will not return for a seventh season. NBC on Monday has officially cancelled the supernatural crime drama ahead of its sixth season premiere.
Following the cancellation, Deadline reported that the network also announced the premiere date of "Grimm" Season 6. New episodes will roll-out beginning on Friday, Jan. 6 at 8PM. But unlike the previous installments (which was composed of 22 episodes), the final season will run with only 13.
The final verdict comes after the network's move to decrease the number of episodes for "Grimm" Season 6 in April. Aside from the shortened season, the soft ratings of the show on its Friday night timeslot last year has also become a factor. At that time, it averaged a 1.6 in rating with a total of 6 million viewers, but still ranked as one of the top-rated scripted shows on Friday.
In other developments, details about the plot of "Grimm" Season 6 have been released. According to Variety, the final season will tackle the hotly-awaited battle between Nick and Captain Renard.
"With the forces of Black Claw silenced, Nick will face a familiar foe in Capt. Renard, who is now in the seat of power as the mayor elect of Portland. Nick must take a stand to protect his city and those closest to him, especially his child with Adalind, and it will take the full force of Nick and his allies to find a way to bring peace," the site shared.
"Grimm" stars David Giuntoli, Sasha Roz, Claire Coffee, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bree Turner and Bitsie Tulloch.
