"Hawaii Five-0" alum Michael Sun Lee will be part of the "Fuller House" cast, playing the recurring role of Harry Takayama. The character is the first on-screen friend of Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin).
Harry Takayama was originally played by "Hiroshima: Out of the Ashes" actor Nathan Nishiguchi in the original ABC sitcom "Full House" from 1988 to 1989. The character usually referred to Stephanie Tanner and she referred to him as her boyfriend without knowing what that term actually meant.
In "Full House" Season 2 episode 10 titled "Middle Age Crazy," Stephanie Tanner decided to have a pretend wedding with Harry Takayama. The latter made his final appearance in the sitcom in an episode titled "Nerd For a Day," in which he became infatuated with D.J. Tanner (Candance Cameron Bure) after she taught him a mathematic problem using oranges.
Before playing the grown-up version of Harry Takayama in "Fuller House," Lee played several TV series characters including CSI Tech Mizumoto in "Diabolical," Bailiff in "The Fosters," Beh Beht in "Matador," Satoru in "Days of Our Lives," Officer Brown in "Scorpion," FBI Forensics Tech Wu in "NCIS: Los Angeles," Tomo in "Almost Asian" and Sam Lee in "Who's in Charge."
Lee also played Maui PD Lieutenant Kala in "Hawaii Five-0" Season 3. When asked by Asian Starz Entertainment Editor Conviron Altatis for "Fuller House" spoilers, the actor endorsed the Instagram account FullerHouseFacts.
On Jan. 7, Thursday, Lee tweeted Altatis a photo of the "Fuller House" cast. Among the actors in the photo is Lee's fellow recurring cast member John Stamos, who will reprise his role as Jesse Katsopolis.
With Lee as Harry Takayama and Stamos as Jesse Katsopolis, Bob Saget and Lori Loughlin are also part of the "Fuller House" recurring cast reprising their respective roles Danny Tanner and Rebecca Donaldson-Katsopolis along with Blake Tuomy-Wilhoit as Nicky Katsopolis, Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit as Alex Katsopolis, Eva LaRue as Teri Tanner, Dave Coulier as Joey Gladstone, Scott Weinger as Steve Hale and Juan Pablo Di Pace as Fernando.
In an interview with People, Loughlin talked about the roles she and Stamos played in "Full House." She said, "John and I had so much fun together, but even I am like, 'Why are people so obsessed with these two?'"
During the 2016 People's Choice Awards, Stamos told Entertainment Tonight that they wanted to do something different at first. He added, "But we all said, 'No, let's just do what we do.' We have the same creators, same directors, same cast, same set. It's very sweet."
With Sweetin as Stephanie Tanner and Bure as D.J. Tanner-Fuller, the "Fuller House" main cast includes Michael Campion as Jackson Fuller, Elias Harger as Max Fuller, Andrea Barber as Kimmy Gibbler and Soni Nicole Bringas as Ramona Gibbler with Dashiell Messitt and Fox Messitt as Tommy Fuller, Jr. The "Full House" reboot is set to premiere on Feb. 26 on Netflix.
