"Lucifer" will introduce Chloe's dead father in Season 2. The series has tapped Chris Payne Gilbert to play the role.
TV Line on Friday has learned that Gilbert will guest star on "Lucifer" Season 2 as John Decker, described as someone who was a "beat cop, a good man and even better father." Set to appear in episode 7, viewers will learn that Chloe was just 19 years old when her dad was killed in the line of duty - an event that lead Chloe to become a detective. After a decade, details of John's death will be reinvestigated and Chloe will try to give her dad the justice he always fought for.
Gilbert's casting has been proudly shared by "Lucifer" star Lesley-Ann Brandt, who also happens to be his wife in real life. It is unclear if Gilbert's storyline will be linked in any way to Maze given that his character is already dead.
In other developments, the official plot details of the Season 2 premiere of "Lucifer" has been released by FOX. As shared by The Futon Critic, here's how the network is describing the season opener: "Lucifer is distracted by his mother's escape from hell, as he and Chloe investigate the murder of a stand-in actress. Meanwhile, Chloe's faith in Lucifer is tested by the new medical examiner, Ella. Also, Amenadiel hopes to rein in Lucifer's wild side, as they both deal with the absence of Maze."
"Lucifer" Season 2 Episode 1 titled "Everything's Coming Up Lucifer" will air on Monday, Sept. 19 on FOX.
