Recent football transfer rumors have emerged that James Rodriguez is desiring a Manchester United switch should a Real Madrid exit comes in January.
The 25-year-old Colombia team captain is rumored to be "nearing the end of his Real Madrid career" as Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane continues to snub him from the starting XI, as per 90min.
With that, speculations abound that the "2014 Puskas award winner's future lies away from the Bernabéu" and the report specifically mentioned that Rodriguez wants to "move to Manchester United" as soon as the January transfer window opens.
The report also noted that four other football clubs, namely Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, and his former team Monaco, are also interested in acquiring the midfielder's services, but his heart is set in joining the Jose Mourinho revolution at the Old Trafford next year.
It was claimed that because Rodriguez and Mourinho share the same agent in Jorge Mendes, the Colombian is much more comfortable to move to United than anywhere else.
The article further said that "Mendes himself has made the recommendation (it was rumored that Radamel Falcao's move to Chelsea last year was the result of a personal favor) although it remains to be seen if United actually want or have any need for the player".
Rodriguez had never been a priority feature at the Bernabéu ever since he was acquired in the summer of 2014 from Monaco for £56 million. This said to have made the 5-foot-11 Cúcuta, Colombia native unhappy in all his years with Los Blancos.
With Zidane's arrival, Rodriguez has fallen further down Real's pecking order as the French boss prefers a Toni Kroos, Casemiro, and Luka Modric midfield in his 4-3-3 formation.
Meanwhile, the Daily Star indicated that Los Blancos is intending to "raise £60 million for the attacker", but no interested club offered for the services of the Colombian star.
The Red Devils were briefly linked to Rodriguez this summer, but Mourinho had been focused on his priority signings during the said transfer window as he all managed to snag them one-by-one, namely Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and world record transfer holder Paul Pogba.
Last season, Rodriguez was featured 32 times and had scored eight goals but was not utilized during the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid which the Real eventually won, 1-1 (5-3 on penalties).
