Rumors of a Kevin Garnett for Iman Shumpert trade between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers are swirling these days as the reigning NBA champions are said to be ready to move on from their defensive ace.

Shumpert was recently involved in an off-court fiasco after he was arrested and charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, and failure to maintain his driving lane during a traffic stop near his house in Atlanta.

Fansided reported that the Cavs were actually trying to shop Shumpert even before the arrest was made and rumors are out that the team may be pushing to trade him even more after the incident.

The report also noted that aside from the debacle, other reasons that Cleveland could trade Shumpert are "their recent player acquisitions and training camp invites", which makes the 26-year-old defensive shooting guard a valuable trade chip.

It then continued that the presence of DeAndre Liggins, who is reportedly "a better version of" the former Georgia Tech standout, in their training camp roster, Cleveland looks to be "able to move on from Shumpert".

With that, one of the article's trade suggestions is a deal with the Timberwolves for 40-year-old veteran Kevin Garnett.

The idea was that the Wolves will send Garnett and a 2017 first round draft pick to the Cavs in exchange for Shumpert.

Minnesota would definitely benefit from the deal as they will also get to move on from their veteran big man, who is confused at the moment whether he will retire or not. Shumpert is a great value to acquire in exchange for Garnett as new defensive-minded head coach Tom Thibodeau can utilize him as his primary perimeter defender and would surely fit among the young core of the Wolves.

Meanwhile, Chat Sports Net indicated that Garnett could provide a second "emotional leader" for the Cavs besides LeBron James, who is solely handling that role at the moment and could use a little help so he could "focus his energy on the game itself".

As for Garnett, he should be happy in joining a championship contender in what could be the final season of his stellar career. Joining the Cavs may help him finish up his playing days winning another NBA title before hanging up his socks.
