Real Madrid is reportedly intending to sell Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez, or simply Isco, to Tottenham Hotspur when the football transfer window re-opens in January as the Spanish midfielder is rumored to be requesting an exit from the La Liga giants.
Caught Offside reported that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder has been linked to the English Premier League side during deadline day of the recent summer transfer window, but the deal fell through at the last minute for undisclosed reasons.
The report continued that the Spurs "could be more successful in January" as the Bernabéu residents are said to be "now ready to sell" Isco, "who has fallen out of favor" in head coach Zinedine Zidane's plans in the Spanish capital city.
Isco's rumored unhappiness with Real reportedly reached fever pitch when the player was left on the bench by Zidane during the team's 2-1 Champions League victory over Sporting Lisbon last Wednesday at their home stadium.
The 5-foot-9, Benalmádena, Spain native said to have requested for a transfer after the match, according to the report, which also said that Los Blancos "are ready to grant that wish and sell in the winter".
Tottenham was reportedly alerted of the development and are now preparing to make their offer to the La Liga powerhouse as soon as the winter window opens at the stroke of New Year.
The Daily Express noted that Isco's current situation in Real is a "remarkable fall from grace" as he was a consistent starter of the club's previous managers, such as Rafa Benitez and Carlo Ancelotti.
Zidane is currently favoring the midfield lineup of Casemiro in the middle and Luka Modric and Toni Kroos on each side in his vaunted 4-3-3 formation behind his attacking trio of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, and Cristiano Ronaldo, which left no room for Isco to break through the starting XI.
To make matters worse, Isco is behind James Rodriguez in Zidane's midfield pecking order, and the Colombia international is also rumored to be planning to leave the Bernabéu for more first-team time in January.
Isco is beginning his fourth season with Los Vikingos since he was acquired in the summer of 2013 from Malaga for €30 million. He had appeared in a total of 149 games in all competitions and scored 22 times for Real in his first three seasons with the club.
