The production of "xXx 3: The Return of Xander Cage" will start in late February and rumors are on the air about the cast which will join Vin Diesel in the sequel.
Recently it was revealed that Nina Dobrev of "Vampire Diaries" fame and Ruby Rose of "Orange Is The New Black" fame might join the cast of this film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original "XXX" film was a spy film focused on athlete Xander Cage who is forced to become a government agent. A sequel of the movie was released in 2002, however Diesel was absent from the cast.
The present story is reportedly centered around Xander Cage which is played by Vin Diesel, although plot details are yet to be revealed.
The cast also includes the original "XXX" star Samuel L. Jackson as Gibbons, head of the National Security Agency, and Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone as female lead. This will be Padukone's first venture in American production.
Padukone will be playing the role of a "huntress" who is also the former lover of Xander Cage (Vin Diesel). On the other hand, Dobrev joins the cast as a sarcastic and witty tech specialist, and Rose as a sniper.
Other notable Asian stars in the movie are martial arts legend Tony Jaa and Jet Li, according to Movie Web.
Dobrev parted ways with "The Vampire Diaries" of The CW after starring in the first six seasons. She, however, starred in "The Final Girls" and will also be seen in "Crash Pad" & "Arrivals."
Rose is wrapping up her shooting of action movie "John Wick" and will be seen in the upcoming "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter."
Diesel himself and Joe Roth, who was the head of Revolution Studios when "XXX" was first made in 2002, will lead the project.
Roth is reportedly producing the movie with his partner Jeff Kirchenbaum and Diesel and his producing partner Samantha Vincent who is also his sister.
The project has chosen Toronto and Philippines as the location. The movie does not have a distributor as of date, but rumors claim that Paramount Pictures might be the final distributing partner of the franchise.
