After being signed at Antenna Music, the 19-year old singer-songwriter has finally debuted. Kwon was a top three finalist in the third season of the reality television series "K-Pop Star."
On Sept. 19, Kwon's first album "Funny Night" was released at midnight Korea Standard Time. The album includes contribution by artists including Jay Park, Sam Kim, Ra. D, d.ear, Sunwoo Jung-A, ChaCha Malone, Babylon and many more. The album features a total of eight tracks with Kwon either composing or writing the lyrics, Soompi reported.
Prior to debuting, the singer-songwriter has already released an official soundtrack for the drama "You're All Surrounded," and have collaborated with artists such as Sung Si Kyung, Sam Kim and Primary along with BTS's Rap Monster.
The music video for the title track "The End" which was featured in her album co-starring actor Jang Gi Yong was also released. The song then topped in the online music charts of Naver Music and Olleh Music.
In a press conference at Ilchi Art Hall, Kwon revealed she did not know that the song made it to the top. "I hadn't expected my first album to do so well and just thought it would be a good experience. Still, I was hoping it would do well," Korea Times quoted Kwon as saying. Adding that she recorded the song more than 100 times and sang it about 1,000 times.
We can recall that Kwon joined the season three of "K-Pop Star" and became the top 3 finalist when the show ended in March 2014. Kwon then signed an exclusive contract with Antenna Music, an agency led by the singer-songwriter Yoo Hee-yeol.
It was reported that Yoo thought Kwon was not ready until recently, stressing that he may be the one who was not ready to debut her. Yoo made a surprise appearance at the event to congratulate his newly debuted singer.
