The one of the leading South Korean actors Lee Jong Suk has nabbed a role in highly anticipated Chinese drama "Jade Sweetheart." He has been signed on to play the role of the main character Zheng Shuang.

According to Allkpop, "Jade Sweetheart" will be Lee Jong Suk's first ever Chinese drama. The upcoming TV series is Chinese-Korean collaboration, which will reunite the actor with the director Jin Hyuk. Lee Jong Suk and Jin Hyuk teamed up for "Prosecutor Princess" and "Doctor Stranger."

The 26-year-old actor is well known for his leading roles in television series such as "School 2013," "I Can Hear Your Voice," "Pinochio," "Doctor Stranger" and more. He happens to be the youngest actor to be honoured with prestigious Grimae award.

Meanwhile, a rumour claims that "Jade Sweetheart" is a big budget project. Lee Jong Suk is rumoured to be getting whooping $5.1 million (6 billion Won), according to the insiders.

Lee Jong Suk's former agency Wellmade Yedang broke the big news in a statement as quoted by Allkpop: " Lee Jong Suk's contract with his former company ended on December 31. He will make a decision after having some deep thought. He decided to have a 'beautiful ending' with his company, with the joint Korean-Chinese drama 'Jade Sweetheart' being his last production while under Wellmade."

The 50-episode series will be a DMG Entertainment production, which is well known for Hollywood movies "Iron Man 3" and "Point Break." According to Soompi, the production budget is 40 billion won. However, the leading actress starring opposite Lee Jong Suk is yet to be cast.

The website reveals that it is a love story set in 1930s China revolving around the relationship between a woman and her CEO. Lee Jong Suk will start filming his part in "Jade Sweetheart" in January 2016. The show will go on air in winter of 2016 on Zhejiang, Anhui Television. More updates are expected soon.
