The tale of Robin Hood has been retold many times, and now, Lionsgate is set to produce "Robin Hood: Origins." Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey") is reportedly in negotiations of his role as Will Scarlet, Robin Hood's half-brother.
The movie will be subsequent to the hero once he comes home from the Crusades and establishes the Merry Men to go against crookedness surrounding Sherwood Forest.
The most recent "Robin Hood" movie was in 2010, which was directed by Ridley Scott and was depicted by Russell Crowe with Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian. That movie's version grossed $321 million around the globe. In 1991, Kevin Costner also played the said character in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves."
Cinema Blend reported that in case Dornan agrees with the deal, he will play as Robin Hood's half-brother and a member of Merry Men, which is a band of outlaws. The movie will have a little twist having Dornan eight years older than Taron Egerton who plays Robin Hood. Should everything goes out smoothly, Dornan would be the fourth person added to the cast.
Will's character has long been in the Robin Hood legend, even showing in the original narratives. Generally, he is one of the best swordsmen that Sherwood Forest has seen, at times wielding two swords when in battle.
Other cast members include Eve Hewson who will play Maid Marian and Jamie Foxx playing the role Little John. In the new "Robin Hood" movie's version, Maid Marian is married to Will Scarlet.
Jennifer Davisson and Leonardo DiCaprio will co-produce the film through their Appian Way banner. Other producers include Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell via Safehouse Productions and last but not the least, Basil Iwanyk on behalf of Thunder Road Pictures, according to Variety.
As of the moment no release date has been provided. The movie will be directed by Otto Bathurst and filming shall start by January 2017 in Budapest.
