The "Assassin's Creed" movie adaptation might show a lot of promise for both fans and newcomers of the franchise alike. Director Justin Kurzel and producer/actor Michael Fassbender made sure that the historical scenes would be as authentic as they will be.
According to Gamespot, the scenes set in 15th century Spain will have the actors speak in Spanish. Director Justin Kurzel said that they previously had English also as the language during the historical sequences but eventually stuck with Spanish as a final decision.
Kurzel mentioned that it indeed added an exotic and rich feel to the film. They were quite thrilled that the production company New Regency was welcoming that direction, according to Total Film Magazine via Gamesradar. Subtitles would also presumably be offered.
It was mentioned that the movie will mostly take place in the modern setting while a smaller percent taking place in the 15th century. The games, in contrast, mostly take its action in the past like the Crusades, the Renaissance, the American Revolution, and many others.
Producer and actor Michael Fassbender explained that the filming crew is doing their best to respect the games, but they "also want to bring new elements to the game," claiming that they're not making a "video game." The production team is also focusing on making the best "cinematic experience," bringing new things to the table.
The actor plays the role of Callum Lynch during the present setting of the movie, while he alternatively plays the assassin Aguilar in the 15th century Spain. While based on the video game franchise, the game's story plot is not tied to any of them, being an independent arc. There are talks as well that Fassbender will be along for the ride for a possible sequel in the future.
"Assassin's Creed" will premiere on Dec. 21.
