After a long hiatus, "Sherlock" is circulating headlines again with the unveiling of its episode titles for Season 4.
In the official Facebook page of the series, the titles of the first two episodes have been revealed namely: "The Six Thatchers," "The Lying Detective." The title of the third series was teased with a question mark that left fans scrambling for every clue as to what that might be.
Fans point out that "The Six Thatchers" is a reference to Dr. John H. Watson's fictional blog hosted by BBC, Screen Rant reported. According to the post, the story took place when they were approached by a student named Sally Barnicot who asked the Holmes and Watson to investigate the death of Pietro Venucci. The title has also been linked to an original "Sherlock Holmes" story titled, "The Adventures of the Six Napoleons."
As for "The Lying Detective," the episode is reportedly loosely based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Adventure of the Dying Detective" which had Holmes fake an illness to catch the culprit to a murder case.
"Sherlock" had been in the backburner since the conclusion of its third season primarily because of scheduling conflict with its lead star, Cinema Blend reported. Cumberbatch had repeatedly expressed his desire to return to the role but the production of the series takes time according to PBS President Paula Kerger.
Earlier this year, fans were treated to a one-off special with "The Abominable Bride." Promos for the new season hinted that the show will deal with a classic villain played by Toby Jones post-Moriarty.
"Sherlock" will return sometime in 2017.
