Nominees for the 2016 APAN Star Awards have been revealed and competition is predicted to be really tough. Online voting for the Best Couple Award has already started and the Song-Song couple, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are one of the nominees.
Since 2012, the APAN Star Awards is annually held as part of the Daejeon Drama Festival. Nominees for the awards are chosen from the dramas which aired on the three major broadcasting networks - KBS, MBC and SBS starting from October 2015 through September 2016.
This year, they will be reviewing 63 dramas including "Descendants of the Sun," Reply 1988," "W," "Doctors," "Uncontrollably Fond," "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds," "Another Oh Hae Young," and more.
The nominees for the best new actor and actress awards includes Yoon Kyun Sang of the SBS drama "Doctors," and Kim Yoo Jung of KBS's "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds," respectively. In the best actor and actress categories, nominees includes Ma Dong Seok of "Squad 38" and Ye Ji Won of "Another Oh Hae Young," Soompi reported.
Online voting for the best couple in a drama series for the 2016 APAN Star Awards began last Sept. 18 and winners will be chosen based on the pair with the most votes. Nominees for the award includes Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, as well as Jin Goo and Kim Ji Won from KBS's "Descendants of the Sun," Kim Rae Won and Park Shin Hye of SBS's "Doctors," Eric and Seo Hyun Jin from tvN's "Another Oh Hae Young," and Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo from MBC's "W - Two Worlds," Kpop Herald reported.
It is worth noting that KBS's "Descendants of the Sun" is one of the top Korean drama in 2016. Due to its popularity, KBS aired an additional three special episodes containing highlights and best scenes from the series as a way of thanking the fans.
Fans can now cast their votes through the official website of the DMC Festival until midnight of Sept. 30. The winners will be announced at the APAN Star Awards on Oct. 2 at Sangam MBC Broadcasting Station.
