"The Strain" is coming to an end. FX has officially renewed the vampire series starring Corey Stoll for a fourth and final season.
While the cancellation of "The Strain" after Season 4 may come off as a bad news to fans, it is still to be taken positively. Entertainment Weekly reported that the show's producers initial plan for the series is to run it for only a total of three seasons, while making sure that they cover Chuck Hogan's third novel. Thus, this announcement would mean that the producers will base the final book into a single season.
"Our original plan was for the series to last three years," executive producer Carlton Cuse said in a statement. "Once we began telling that story it expanded to be more. After finishing the writing on season three, Guillermo, Chuck and I looked at our remaining story and felt the best version could be told in one more season. We have a fantastic plan for an exciting and climatic season four."
The start of production as well as the number of episodes for "The Strain" Season 4 will be announced on a later date. FX is set to release the new season in the summer of 2017.
"The Strain" currently airs its Season 3 on FX every Sunday. As to what happens in the next episode, the official synopsis revealed that viewers will find Justine embarking on a risky mission to drive the strigoi out of Manhattan once and for all. On Fet's orbit, he will be found striking hard at the heart of the strigoi army.
"The Strain" Season 3 Episode 6 "The Battle of Central Park," is slated to air on Sunday, Oct. 2 on FX.
