Golden State Warriors made a big acquisition by adding Kevin Durant into its roster to strengthen its offense and defense. But let us find out what the new Warriors will be like in the upcoming season.
Kevin Durant is a great addition to the team roster, due to his versatility and athleticism in both defensive and offensive end. But coach Steve Kerr must let go three of his rim defender Andrew Bogut, Harrison Barnes and Festus Ezeli. As their replacement, Warriors added Zaza Pachulia and David West, and the second round pick in the 2016 NBA Draft Patrick McCaw.
However, according to SB Nation, the replacement player does not cover the weakness of Golden State Warriors in rim protection and depth. As a rookie, it will take some time for McCaw to adjust his play in the NBA rhythm.
The Warriors will also rely on Durant who is known to be a skilled defender. Kerr's assistant coach Ron Adams knows exactly his defensive ability, as Adams worked with Durant in Oklahoma for two years.
Durant is excited to start the season with his new team. He even do things he didn't do during his tenure in Oklahma. He wakes up early in the 7:00 am and goes to start his work day with the Warriors.
"I wasn't used to that in Oklahoma City," he said in an interview with the USA Today in his first training day with the Warriors.
Durant will be an important part of the entire Warriors gameplay. The combination of its quartet Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Durant is one of the most lethal in the entire league.
Durant will support Green in the new trend of versatile frontcourt player, which was initiated by the Warriors. While in the backcourt, the Splash Brother Curry and Thompson will wreak havoc on opponent's defensive end.
