The latest chapter of "Shokugeki no Soma" was recently released which marks the start of the Hayama and Soma' cook off. Part of the promotions exam, chapter 185 of the popular manga reveals the cooking methods each student has prepared to excel.
Chapter 185 of "Shokugeki no Soma" can be read online through Manga Stream and the popular manga starts with Hayama and Soma finally facing off. Former Elite Ten Gin introduces the judges for the competition: Berta, Sheila and Soe. Berta and Sheila are Alice's younger and Soe is Alice's father. Although there is initial hesitation from Kouga and Soma because of their age, they are assured by Soe that judging would be impartial - even if it means Alice's expulsion.
The main ingredient of the competition is finally revealed: bear meat. As expected, the finest bear meat is presented to the students. Hayama immediately starts his preparation and it was later revealed that he is cooking something unique: fried bear meat. Soma also surprised everyone that he is also preparing the same thing.
The chapter ends with Megumi and Takumi preparing for their cooking battle. Their opponent went to their holding room and it was revealed that they duo will cook against the highest ranking female student in the school: second seat Elite Ten Rindou.
As discussed extensively in Manga Helpers forum on the recent chapter and the possible spoilers, not everyone will be successful in their fight against the Elite Ten students. Megumi and Takumi will have to do more than just cook great food because they are up against the 2nd best student in Tootski. Because of their opponent, it is even possible they could lose the cook off.
The battle of Hayama and Soma is going to focus on technique. Both are focusing on fried food and the difference maker is on how they process the ingredients. Soma might do something different to his fried food: close the lid and lock all the flavors.
In the latest chapter, Soma remembers that the bear meat used in the competition is the best meat possible which means it doesn't have any bad smell. Since Soma wants to lock in the flavors, he will risk closing the lid so that the intense flavor will not come out.
