The sequel of the highly successful "Jurassic World" is set to be released in 2018, but fans are now super excited for the next park adventure. Who would not be when the second installment of the fourth highest grossing film of all time is promising more thrills and excitement?
While Director Collin Trevorrow is no longer in the helm of the sequel, he is still part of the team writing the plot along with co-producer Steven Spielberg.
"It will not be just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island. That'll get old real fast," he explained. He also mentioned that the new director will be J.A Bayona, who will definitely bring a different flavor. This is Bayona's first project after "The Orphanage" which was released last 2007.
Trevorrow told Jurassic Outpost that the next installment of "Jurassic World" will be more suspenseful and scary, the way it was originally designed. He also added that he long wanted for Bayona to direct the sequel so that the whole movie would be built around the latter's skill set.
The chief of Universal Pictures Donna Langley also revealed that fans can expect at least two more movies from the Jurassic franchise. She further said that Trevorrow is now busy making the outline for the future installments and is working with Spielberg for a possible trilogy.
The sequel is set to feature Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas in the lead roles, which would surely elate the fans. The characters of Zach Mitchell and Gray Mitchell is set to make a comeback in the second installment. There even have been several rumors floating around that Ian Malcolm, Ellie Sattler and Alan Grant are all set to make a return to the sequel with their iconic on-screen characters.
Digital Spy also reported that the sequel will have a bigger budget to play with. The first installment of "Jurassic World" had a budget of $150 million which earned $1.67 billion in worldwide box office. Apparently, the sequel is commanding a budget of $260 million, a whopping $110 million more than the previous one.
"Jurassic World 2" will officially be open for business again on June 22, 2018, occupying the mid-summer United States release date that powered "Jurassic World" to phenomenal box office success.
