The "Harry Potter" kids are definitely all grown up. Rupert Grint, popular for his role as Ronald Weasley, is trading his hand-me-down robes for guns, coats and ties as he takes on the lead role in the TV adaptation of Guy Ritchie's "Snatch."
The first set of photos of Grint as the posh hustler Charlie Cavendish has surfaced online, showing the 28-year-old star filming in Manchester, England. In one of the photos, Grint gets into character as he holds a rifle while wearing a pig mask.
The "Snatch" TV series will take inspiration from the original film starred by Brad Pitt and Jason Statham. The story, which is based on a real heist that took place in London, focuses on a group of young hustlers who come across a truck of stolen gold bullion and are now confronted with the "high-stakes world of organized crime," Deadline reported.
Starring alongside Grint, who's also attached as a producer to the series, are Dougray Scott ("Fear the Walking Dead"), Luke Pasqualino ("The Musketeers") and Ed Westwick ("Gossip Girl").
As per The Independent, "Snatch" TV series will have a 10-episode run and will be released through Sony's free TV series Crackle. Although filmed and set in the United Kingdom, the show won't be available in the region where Crackle is not available. A spokesperson of the company, however, stated that UK release will be possible at some point.
Keeping up with the current trend of making TV adaptations of successful movie titles, Crackle said the "Snatch" TV Series "will be what the Fargo TV series was for the Coen Brother's film."
The original "Snatch" film was released in 2000. The movie grossed $83.6 million on a $10 million budget. The movie was also largely successful in terms of critical response. It was listed in Empire magazine's 2008 poll of 500 greatest movies of all time.
"Snatch" TV series will premiere in 2017.
