"Game of Thrones" actor Kit Harington showed up in a very festive mood at the 2016 Emmy Awards. The British actor came to the event with his co-star and girlfriend, Rose Leslie, but apparently he left her to romance his co-presenter, Andy Samberg.
During the Emmys, Harington got down on one knee, with a ring in his hand and offered it to "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star. According to Us Magazine, the proposal was part of a bit that Samberg and Harington performed right before announcing the nominees in the Variety Talk Series category.
The "Saturday Night Live" host could not help but blush and said "Yes" to Harington's marriage proposal. He excitedly said, "Here at the Emmys? I do!"
Harington also reportedly wanted to celebrate at the pre-Emmy party without his girlfriend Leslie. A source told E! News that the couple arrived together at the pre-celebration, however, he left Leslie, who continued to party with Iwan Rheon and Maisie Williams. "Before he walked out to leave," the source further added, "he and Rose hugged and kissed each other goodbye."
Harington and Leslie had known each other well before they started filming the HBO adaptation of G. R. R. Martin's epic fantasy book series. The couple had a yearlong relationship, which ended in August 2013. Their relationship again blossomed when they got a chance to act together in the series. Harington plays the iconic character of Jon Snow, while his off-screen girlfriend, Leslie, played the character of his lover, Ygritte.
Interestingly, fans and media had already been guessing about their on-again-off-again relationship. The couple is very private people with not much being known about their dating life off-screen and it seems that is the way they prefer it. Although rumors have circulated for a long time about their courtship, they only recently appeared in public together as a couple at the 2016 Olivier Awards in London.
During his previous interviews, Harington talked about his experience on the show, including falling in love with Leslie. In the interview, he was asked about his favorite memory from the show so far. The actor talked about an incident in which they were shooting the second season in Iceland, and how for the very first time, he saw Northern Lights.
The 29-year-old Harington went on to explain how since he already had an attraction to Leslie from the past, when they reunited on stage as a couple, the romance blossomed and knew no limits. "If you're already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest, it becomes very easy to fall in love," he revealed.
Harington will soon be seen reprising his role as Jon Snow in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. An official air date of new season has not yet been announced, but the show creators have recently confirmed that the upcoming seasons will be shorter than usual.
Harington also talked about the show's ending and his career. The actor addressed the fact that he has given a lot of thought to his next career objective, but has not yet made any decisions. Instead, he plans to enjoy the glory of having played the much beloved bastard of Winterfell for as long as possible.
