"Scorpion" has cast Switched at Birth actress Lea Thompson to play mother to Katherine McPhee's character, Paige, in Season 3.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Thompson will be introduced on "Scorpion" Season 3 as Veronica Dineen, an accomplished con artist who will turn up on Paige's orbit after years in prison. She is set to debut on the show's Thanksgiving-themed episode. As to how she will figure on the current season's storyline, viewers will learn that Thompson's Veronica got involved in a real estate deal gone wrong.
The episode, slated to air sometime in November, will see some dangerous colleagues of Veronica following her after she uncovered a secret and a forgotten nuclear reactor. What's more, Veronica will seek Team Scorpion's help to get her out of this mess while also trying to reconnect with Paige. However, her case will leave the team skeptical at first.
"You don't really know that much about Paige's past," McPhee told the publication.
"This season, you're going to really learn a lot about what her background is and where she came from. It's good meaty stuff for Paige. You're going to see a little more aggressive, frustrated, annoyed Paige [continuing] from the first episode - that's the most angry you've seen her in all the seasons. I think you'll see a continuation of that."
Meanwhile, next Monday's installment of "Scorpion" will find Walter being accidentally launched into space in a rocket. Titled "It Isn't the Fall That Kills You," Walter's upcoming ordeal will make him hallucinate about Paige as he struggles to lose oxygen while in space.
"Scorpion" also stars Elyes Gabel, Robert Patrick Eddie Kaye Thomes, Jadyn Wong, Ari Satidham and Riley Smith. Season 3 airs every Mondays at 10PM on CBS.
