The apes are on the rise to wage war once again with the humans in the battle to win the earth in "War for the Planet of the Apes." This time, gamers can experience the same thing in their gaming platforms in the video game adaptation of the movie.
Gamespot was able to cover this when motion capture actor Andy Serkis announced during the New York Comic con that the "War for the Planet of the Apes" will have its own video game. The actor playing Caesar from the previous movies will make a return this time as a video game character for a game that will be released for consoles.
Although Serkis did drop the bomb on the news, he continually held back more information during a post panel interview. But he did mention that the game will only be released for consoles, along with few more information.
The motion capture actor mentioned that the game is being developed at his studio, the Imaginarium. He mentioned that isn't any like the other games, like first-person shooters, but it feels more "like an interactive movie." Serkis also added that the game is "a companion piece, it's not based on the characters from this movie."
Andy Serkis has already worked with the video game industry in the past, such as being the voice work and motion capture in Ninja Theory's "Heavenly Sword" and "Enslaved: Odyssey to the West." He provided voices for the games "Risen" and "Volume."
Earlier in Collider, the plot mentions Caesar's returning struggle to save his kind against mankind, especially with the new antagonist known as the Colonel (played by Woody Harrelson) getting in on the fray. It is possible that this plot would eventually pave the way to the events of the original 1968 movie. Even more, Director Matt Reeves hinted that Caesar is some sort of "seminal figure" in the history of the apes, even possibly ascending to a "mythic god" status.
The video game adaptation for the "War for the Planet of the Apes" will be released along with the movie, which opens in theaters Jul. 14, 2017.
