The third instalment of "Wolverine" franchise titled, "Logan" will have a female Wolverine. It has also been reported that heavily rumored Mister Sinister will not appear.
"Logan" follows a government run operation called "Transigen" that turns mutant children as weapons. The female version of Wolverine named Laura a.k.a X-23 (Sienna Novikov) will be Logan's (Hugh Jackman) student mentee in the film, The Wrap reported.
In the comic books, X-23 will have two claws instead of three. She is known as the clone-daughter of Wolverine. Like Wolverine, she will have a regenerative healing factor, enhanced speed, reflexes and superhuman strength. She will also have adamantium coated bone claws in her hands and feet.
Novikov was previously spotted filming her bleeding character next to Logan, Screen Rant reported. Fans think that her character will have more appearances in the future.
The heavily rumored Mister Sinister will reportedly not make an appearance even though his presence was teased in the lates "X-Men" film. However, fans refuse to rule out the possibility of a post credit scene.
Meanwhile, actor Robert E. Grant is confirmed to play the baddie behind Transigen as Dr. Zander Rice. In the comic books, Zander is the son of Dale Rice who worked on the original Weapon X that created Wolverine. His father was killed by Wolverine who fled with a lot of information about the project. The character work with Boyd Holbrook's Donald Pierce, the head of security for Transigen.
Reports about the storyline for the film reveals that Transigen is hell-bent in capturing X-23 with Logan focused on protecting her. "Logan" will be released on March 3, 2017.
